Situated in the Milwaukee Avenue historic district in south Minneapolis, this house seems from the exterior to be exactly like its historic neighbors. Inside its red brick walls, however, a different aesthetic is on display.

Responding to the homeowners’ desire for a clean, modern sensibility in the interior spaces, our Studio created designs for remodeling much of the house in an aesthetic the drew on and complemented the historic precedent but were unmistakably modern. A dark green granite fireplace surround in the breakfast room and glass tile in the living room and kitchen further the aesthetic while offering a counterpoint in both color and texture to the warm wood tones of the flooring and cabinetry.
