Utilizing many sustainable features, this new hunting lodge serves as a family retreat for year-round outdoor recreation and indoor relaxation. Its design was inspired by the area vernacular of barnbuilding. Built largely within the footprint of a 1860s structure previously on the site, the new home features geothermal heating and cooling, reclaimed and local materials, passive solar and ventilation techniques, and durable, low-maintenance exterior materials. The tower room, which functions as a seating area and sleeping porch, provides great views and natural ventilation for the entire house.
