Minneapolis Bungalow Porch

This charming bungalow, situated in a quiet South Minneapolis neighborhood, had a front entry that was not in harmony with the Craftsman ideals that guided its inception. The windows were inoperable and of the wrong style for the house. There was no covered entry, and the lack of any landing in front of the door made getting inside more difficult than necessary.

As the problem was more complex than a simple refurbishing could remedy, the existing entry was completely demolished. The new entry has a stoop that is much longer than its predecessor, affording one a place to stand while opening the door. This area is covered by the extended roof, which is supported by beams built to match those on the roof of the main house. Muntins on the new windows reflect those on the rest of the house, and their operability allows for ventilation of the airlock.
