Why Architects and Realtors Should Work Together to Help Clients

Architects’ and designers’ job descriptions are very simple: we see possibilities. If you have a listing that requires vision and creativity, invite us to help your client imagine the space differently.

In just one meeting we can discuss your client’s lifestyle and advise them how the house can be modified to fit their needs. A quick sketch or two might help them realize the potential a house has. “[An architect’s] vision could be all the client needs for them to comfortably decide that it’s the right home for them,” says The Art of Construction blog.

BEFORE & AFTER Despite a deteriorated exterior and overgrown vegetation, this site was otherwise perfectly suited to the prospective homeowner’s needs. Given the building’s condition and a desire to considerably change the floor plan, significant remodeling was necessary. We met with both the homeowners and the realtor to discuss how potential changes to the building could fit the homeowner’s lifestyle and historic Summit Avenue preservation guidelines.

Even if the buyer knows how they want to change the house, it’s wise to bring in an architect to discuss their vision. With over 20 years of experience in zoning laws and building codes, we know what’s possible and what’s not. We can easily discuss budgets, making sure the buyer is fully informed. We can also discuss sustainability and energy-efficiency.

Properties located within historic districts have additional challenges. As experts in the restoration of historic properties, we can help the homeowner navigate preservation district guidelines.
